The city contracted with a company to spray the lake for algae growth.

What they use for this process depletes the oxygen level of the water where they spray.

This has affected what are called the “bait fish,” or smaller fish which lack the instinct to go to a lower level for oxygen.

There have been only a few game fish such as bass or catfish that appear to have been affected.

The city is working with the contracted company to ensure the problem is rectified and has clean-up crews working to keep the lake a safe and pleasant place to visit.
