Charlotte Hubbard serves as the Place 2 Council Member for the City of Oxford. A retired educator from Oxford City Schools, she is also the owner of Hubbard’s Off Main and Spring Street Station, two restaurants in Historic Downtown Oxford. Since her election to the city council in 2012, she has been instrumental in the revitalization of Historic Downtown Oxford, the opening of the Oxford Performing Arts Center, and the establishment of Historic Main Street Oxford—which she considers among her greatest accomplishments in service to the city.
Hubbard believes that Oxford’s continued growth and long-term stability rely on improving infrastructure, developing a comprehensive growth plan, and establishing an economic development and tourism department.
A 1971 graduate of Oxford High School, Hubbard earned a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Auburn University, a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and an associate’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Alabama.
Deeply involved in civic and nonprofit organizations, Hubbard has contributed to the Cardinal Foundation at Gadsden State, Altrusa Club, ADK Sorority, the Children's Service Center, the Berman Museum Foundation, and Historic Main Street Oxford. Passionate about preservation, she enjoys collecting antique furniture from the 1880s–1920s and restoring historic buildings and homes in downtown. Her latest project is the restoration of the former Oxford Railway Depot.
Hubbard is a member of the First Baptist Church of Oxford.
