Mike Henderson serves as the Place 3 Council Member for the City of Oxford. A retired banker, he has 46 years of experience in the banking industry, including time at Farmers & Merchants Bank in Oxford. Henderson previously served on the Oxford City Council from 2000 to 2008 and was re-elected in 2012, continuing his service to the present day.

Throughout his tenure, he considers some of his most significant accomplishments to be facilities construction and improvements, retail and industrial recruitment, the creation of over 2,000 jobs, expansion of city services, and numerous projects aimed at enhancing the quality of life for Oxford residents. He believes that Oxford’s ongoing success depends on infrastructure improvements, financial stability, economic growth, and the continued investment in city services.

A 1975 graduate of Oxford High School, Henderson earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Jacksonville State University.

He has been actively involved in several civic and nonprofit organizations, including the Oxford Kiwanis Club, Oxford Quarterback Club, and the Calhoun County Sports Hall of Fame Board of Directors. Notably, he also served as Oxford’s first City Council President.

Henderson is a devoted husband to Cynthia and a proud father to Laura and Matthew. He is a member of Lakeview Baptist Church.
