The city government of Oxford, Alabama will host its annual Student Government Day on April 30, 2024.

This unique program allows Oxford High School seniors to stand for election by their fellow students to shadow for each of the city government offices during the day.

“It means a lot to get the students involved and see what their government does, and we always learn something from the students,” said Mayor Alton Craft. “They are very smart. We who currently serve do the same things over and over, get set in our ways, and don’t think outside of the box. These young people are always thinking outside of the box and their enthusiasm always gets the city staff really fired up.”

The students will begin their day at 8:30 a.m. in the city council chambers at Oxford City Hall, located at 145 Hamric Drive East.
