YOUTH DAY PROVIDES HEALTHY FUN AND INFORMATION

The monthly Community Health Series, sponsored by Oxford Health Systems, Alabama CARES, and the East Alabama Planning Commission, provided a lighter touch on the serious subject of youth health awareness during its July program held Tuesday, July 22, at the Oxford Civic Center.

While parents and guardians had vendors and speakers available to provide important information on the subject, area children were treated to Kona Ice and bouncy houses.

“We thought it was time to have a little fun,” said Oxford paramedic Carla Jones.

The Community Health Series is provided as a service to Calhoun, Cherokee, Chambers, Clay, Cleburne, Coosa, Etowah, Randolph, Talladega, and Tallapoosa counties.

The remaining series subjects are: Elder Law (Aug. 20); Mental Health Awareness and Suicide Prevention (Sept. 24); Cancer Awareness (Oct. 29); Weather Awareness with James Spann (Nov. 19); and Holiday Wellness (Dec. 19).

The monthly events are also available for viewing on TV24 streaming service.
