Downtown Oxford was filled with artisan, craft, pet, and food vendors and plenty of potential customers on Saturday, October 19, 2024.
Making it even more fun were those who helped begin Oxford’s Halloween festivities by putting on costumes and make-up, spicing up the crowd with a variety of colorful characters who greeted the Great Pumpkin at Simmons Park in historic downtown Oxford.
Many of those characters took the opportunity to participate in the fifth annual Witches Ride and Walk on Main, riding bicycles and walking as they shared candy with those lining the street before ending up at the event’s major sponsor, the Terrortorium Haunted House and Amusements.
The fun expanded to other creatures—the four-legged kind—as some shared it with their pets during the Howl-O-Ween on Main Dog Costume Contest, sponsored by Ulti-Mutt Bakery.
The seven award-winners were:
Cutest Pet Costume: Harlow (bubble bath)
Scariest Pet Costume: Beignet (Creepy Cathy)
Best Pet and Owner Duo: Katherine Chatman (Sporty Barbie) and Sissy (Pink Barbie)
Funniest Pet Costume: Moe (Garth from “Wayne’s World”)
Most Creative Pet Costume: Everest (“101 Dalmatians”)
Hall-O-Ween on Main Spirit Award: Jenna (spider)
The “Best Overall” top prize award was presented to Wysteria Chatman, dressed as Jesse, and her dog Buddy, dressed as Woody from “Toy Story.”
