OXFORD ON THE MOVE’ DRAWS CITIZEN INTEREST; RESIDENTS CAN TAKE ONLINE SURVEY

The city of Oxford is in the process of conducting a survey to determine what residents would like to see concerning bike and pedestrian trails.

“Oxford On The Move: A Plan For Bike and Pedestrian Routes” held a public forum at Oxford City Hall on Thursday, February 13, 2025, sponsored by the city of Oxford and Sain Associates.

Those attending were able to mark maps showing where they currently walk and bike, and where they would like to have the same type of access where it is not available.

Transportation projects can be costly, and available funding sources can be ever-changing. The city has chosen to plan ahead in preparation for opportunities to add walking and biking amenities.

The vision and goals of the study is to evaluate opportunities for bicycle and pedestrian connections on all local roadways in the city of Oxford with some potential connections being downtown Oxford to Oxford Civic Center; Oxford Civic Center to Choccolocco Park; the Chief Ladiga Trail to downtown Oxford; and Hobson City to Main Street.

For those who were unable to attend the public forum, the community engagement survey is available online at https://survey123.arcgis.com/share/c347d911e73a4b859a71512f7f3efec5.
