AMERICAN LEGION HONORS OXFORD POLICE

American Legion Post 111 offered their thanks and honors to the Oxford Police Department during a presentation at the July 22 City Council meeting.

Post Judge Advocate Preston Hale said since the post was reactivated in 2022, ithas been community oriented and has become especially close to members of the OPD.

“We give programs in our community such as Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day, and so many others,” Hale said. “This year, the police department was very gracious in standing up with us during our Armed Forces Day at Memorial Gardens.”

The post presented plaques of recognition to the OPD Aviation Unit for the flyover during that ceremony, and to OPD officer Mason Love for serving as the guest speaker.

Love, who is a veteran of the National Guard, said during that May 18 ceremony,“The first thing we should do when our feet hit the floor is to live a life that would make these who have gone before proud, bring them honor by doing things like this, and never letting their memory fade.”
